Kalau takut dilambung ombak, jangan berumah ditepi pantai

That's the idiom that we used to hear every time.

But usually this apply into our daily lives but many people do not apply into their financial terms.

I would quote it this way: "Kalau tak pandai bayar hutang, tak payah ler berhutang!"

It is relevant because many people are afraid of debt but still making debts. If they are a good paymaster, I guess it should be alright but they didn't.

Our society is still lacking of financial intelligent.. that's why.

So think about it.

How to calculate ASB Dividend and Bonus

I have been told that ASB Dividend and Bonus are calculated as follows:

Dividend

Formula : (total minimum monthly balance) x dividend /12

Let’s say you invest $200 every month from 0, and dividend for that year is 7% (last year 2008 dividen), your dividend will be…

(200+400+600+800+1000+1200+1400+1600+1800+2000+2200+2400) x 0.07 / 12 = RM91

Bonus

Formula : (total minimum monthly balance) x bonus / 120

Let’s say you invest $100 every month from 0, and bonus for that year is 1%, your bonus will be…

(200+400+600+800+1000+1200+1400+1600+1800+2000+2200+2400) x 0.01 / 120= RM1.3

I'm not it is correct either.

Deposit ASB via Maybank2u

Now, I saw the new payment for Maybank2u users where you can make payment or transfer to ASNB Unit Trust called ASB from Maybank2u.

It is easier now to transfer any excess money monthly to ASB. You can do monthly at the end of each month to get the minimum amount on that particular month.

10 years history of ASB payout and BLR

Here is the summary of ASB payout vs BLR from 1990 to 2008

You have to be at least a millionaire when you retire

You need to have cash reserves of more than RM1mil to be able to maintain your current lifestyle 20 years after retirement from age 55 to age 75. This is on the assumption that we can live up to 75 (the average lifespan of Malaysians).

This amount will be enough to maintain your current lifestyle for the next 20 years after your retirement at 55.

However, if you need to spend RM5,000, RM7,000 or RM10,000 per month, then you need RM2.6mil, RM3.7mil and RM5.3mil respectively at your retirement age of 55.
